Thanks to Martin and Maggie for organising a bright, sunny day to lift our spirits with a walk in the Meldons and also to them for providing the (belated) Burns night treats and rendition of one of his poems.

Here are a few images including an attempt at some Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) for the upcoming Tu3a photography group and someone else who enjoyed the photography.

Thanks to Cath and Paul for leading a very well attended walk round the local area of Peebles in search of Cademuir's fairies.

30 members initially set off from Kingsmeadow car park on the trail of trolls (possibly because it was said that walking was good for their elf?)

We walked up Glen Road and then down the side of Crookston Burn aka 'The Cut'. Next through Jubilee Park and on to the Haystoun back road. Then up to Bonnington Road, into the forest and up to the Cademuir Plantation car park. After a coffee break (thanks to Paul for the Tunnock's Caramel Wafers), we continued upwards to the top view point where we enjoyed the panoramic views. On the way back down, at the top gate, we stopped to enjoy the view of the iron age forts .

After returning to the central picnic bench, we had the opportunity to look out for 'Cademuir's fairy land'. First off, near the central picnic bench, two steps past the red track marker on the left - is where Lofty lives.

The search for little people continued as we travelled North and wound our way through the trees. Near a blue and red marker post on a bend with a fallen tree behind, the fairy terrace houses where Popup and Shout live were spotted in the base of the tree. Near the Northern Path, Dyson and New Broom live next to the main path, as does Broom Handle. Scary the fairy moved to the last stretch of cycle path to avoid the marauding ramblers. Continuing through the Northern path across the plantation, we made a slight detour to see where Nuff, one of the fairies, lives (aka Fairy Nuff).  

Back down to the back of the Craigerne estate that used to be a Bernardo's children's home. Then on to the new High School and back down to Victoria Park to enjoy another stroll in the park before returning to Kingsmeadow car park.

Thirteen members braved the elements and the obstacle course that is sometimes known as 'The Falls of the Clyde' walk. However, they were well rewarded with views of the falls, autumn colours and, for some, tea and cake in the café afterwards.
