Unfortunately the path that leads to Venlaw Castle Hotel from Shield Green was blocked. So, from the car park we headed over Priorsford Bridge and along to Whitestone Park. After crossing the main road at the new crossing, we walked through Hydro Gardens and on past Soonhope holiday cottages. At the junction at the top of the hill we turned to the left and went down hill and then up to Glenbield. At the top of the steps we turned left and headed back to Peebles via the Venlaw High Road.
