Groups

Our interest groups are at the heart of our u3a. They provide an opportunity to share knowledge as well as to meet new people, and to make new friends.

Members are free to join any group they like, as long as there is a vacancy. Most of our groups are run on a regular weekly or monthly basis by members, either in their own homes or in local halls, though outdoors activity groups may gather at a specified meeting place outdoors. (During Covid, some groups moved online. Please check with the Group Coordinator using the online Contact form for more information. Click on the Contact tab at the top of the page).

Some groups meet in the evening, or do not always meet on the same day, and it is not possible for these variations to be listed individually in the timetable. If a group you are interested in does not show up on the timetable, check out the group's page, where you will find further details of dates and times.

Many groups take a summer break, most of them during the months of July and August, and resume activity at the start of September. If you plan to attend a group's meeting during July or August, please contact the Groups Coordinator beforehand to check whether that group meets over the summer, using the online Contact form.

  • Petrol Costs

    For groups where car sharing applies, the charge has now been set at 45p per mile - to be shared equally between those travelling, including the car driver. N.B. This figure is under constant review.
